Artist's notes: "Balanced on her surfboard, the Surfing Mermaid rides a cresting wave against a turquoise watercolor backdrop. This work, commissioned by Molly Culbertson to add to her mermaid collection, features limpet shells on the lower portion of the mermaid, conical shell breasts, a natural pearl necklace, copper hair, and enameled clay mermaid inlay in the surfboard."
