Artist's notes: "As noted in the artist profile, the Herald Angel was my first attempt at wall-mounted angel sculptures and the beginning of a series of Alabama Angels. It is made almost entirely from everyday materials found around the house. Wood from old packing crates forms the spine. Aluminum clothesline wire serves as the armature. A kitchen funnel and wooden dowel became the trumpet. Paper mixed with glue and other binding agents forms the skirt, blouse, and wings. And ordinary brass wire constitutes the hair, eyebrows, belt, and bracelet."
